DEFEND YOUR MAN

"Men: can't live with them...and that's about it."

this is a status i saw on Facebook last night that provoked me. actually, it made me a little angry. i adore my husband. i think about him all the time, and fall more and more in love with him each day. i am jealous for him, want him, need him and can't imagine my life without him. and personally, I don't think any of those things i feel for him make me any less independent or less capable as a woman. in our society, it is continually being pushed that a woman doesn't need a man to do anything. i have to wholeheartedly disagree with that point of view. my husband, aaron, adds so much to my life and I truly, completely, 100% believe that he is my other half. (sidenote: for women who choose to stay single and never marry, i am not saying that you cannot be who God created you to be without a man. heck, God used unmarried women in some pretty crazy and amazing ways, so this is not directed towards you. this is pure opinion about women who have the desire to be married or are married.) sure, there are plenty of times where my husband annoys me, gets on my nerves, disagrees with me (because i'm always right, right?). but i certainly would never say i can't live with my husband. and maybe the women who say these things can't live with the men they choose because, frankly, the men they choose suck? i think that every good relationship takes work on both sides. there are struggles and growing pains. but i think we as women have a role, a duty, a privilege, to stand up for our husbands. to fight for them. to pray for them. heck, to just LOVE on them. as wives, we were created to help our husbands, to encourage them, to support them. statements that demean our men and their purpose in our lives is just wrong. i can tell you one thing is for sure: i love my man, and i can't imagine not living with him.
